On procuring your Driver Authorisation for Taxi Services issued by Queensland Transport the BWTM support staff will provide further on the job training including information about the vehicle, technology inside and other important drivers safety issues.

To qualify for driver authorisation, you must have:

1. Held your open Australian drivers licence for a minimum of 12 months.

2. Complete the driver training course held at Black & White Cabs, phone 38601825 for enquiries relating to price and bookings.

3. Obtain a current Medical Certificate from your local GP for Motor Vehicle driving.

4. Pass an English assessment which is built in to the Black & White Cabs course.

5. Have a satisfactory criminal history record.

New drivers to Maxi Cabs will be given half a day of on the job training with an accredited trainer focusing on the areas unique to the features of that vehicle, before going solo.

BWTM has a drivers insurance scheme that indemnifies drivers for “at fault” accident. The scheme also incorporates personal accident insurance and public liability insurance to the limit of the policy terms, should a driver be injured whilst driving his/her taxi or travelling to or from the point of the start of their shift. Drivers pay a fee per shift for the benefit.
